Two of the biggest summer stage shows Saddle to the East and Summer sizzle which is promoted by long time dancehall rivals Bounty Killa (Saddle to the East) and Beenie Man (Summer sizzle) were held on August 26th. The Bank Of Jamaica is honouring late reggae superstar BOB MARLEY by issuing commemorative gold and silver coins. The 1,000 coins, which feature the singer’s dread-locked likeness, are being produced by the British Royal Mint and are being sold for $100 (GBP56) each. Bank spokeswoman JACQUELINE MORGAN says, “We’ve received quite a bit of interest already.”

Moses “Beenie Man” Davis recently tied the not with Michelle ‘D’Angel’ Downer at Crichton Estate in St. Andrew. Now the Beenie man high continues with the upcoming release of his highly anticipated album “Undisputed” through Virgin Records on August 29th 2006. His first single off the albun titled “girls” which features international superstar Akon has been enjoying heavy rotation on the airwaves internaionally.

Preparing to hit it big this year on the international and local scene is Elephant Man. His latest album, which is being produced by Bad Boy Records, is set to debut in September. Bad Boys Records is the brainchild of producer turned rap artiste Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs. Elephant Man said it was Diddy who sought him out. “The album suppose to come out in September. Since June everything has been officially locked wid Bad Boys records. We were doing a show in New York and he watched the show. Him come over and him seh him hear ’bout Elephant Man and him want me,” Ele said.
