Launch of IRI Awards & IRMA set for 2007
Posted on 19th September 2006 by ReggaelifestyleAt a recently held meeting of the board of directors of the Recording Industry Association of Jamaica(RIAJam) a decison was taken to officially launch the International Reggae Music Academy(IRMA) and the International Reggae Industry Awards(IRI Awards) in Spring of 2007. The date and detailed plans for the first IRI Awards will be announced at the official launch which will take place in Kingston during Cricket World Cup 2007.
A special launch function will be planned by the RIAJam, the IRMA Steering Committee and their partners and sponsors to capiitalize on the presence in the Caribbean during Cricket World Cup of international media representatives from around the world .
The RIAJam board meeting also addressed the matter of membership to the Reggae Academy and agreed to put in place a number of promotional activities geared at spreading the word about IRMA and the IRI Awards in Reggae communities around the world. The promotional activities to attract membership were kicked off with an Academy steering committee meeting held during Reggae Sunsplash in Ocho Rios and the staging of the first of many info sessions hosted at Laser Works CD Manufacturing Company in Kingston. Other info sessions are planned for recording studios and music distribution companies.
