Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest’s major sponsors have confirmed their association with this year’s staging of the annual music festival, according to the producers Summerfest Productions. The festival, now in its 15th year, is expected to be one of the biggest and best to date, Summerfest said in a news release. Title sponsors Red Stripe are back on board for the third year of their contract. Wayne Lawrence, marketing director of Red Stripe, said that he is expecting another great production from Summerfest Productions that will attract a wide cross section of people to the event.

“We want to extend our heartiest congratulations to the organisers of Reggae Summerfest on their 15th anniversary. As the title sponsor and supporter of the festival for the past three years, we are excited by their plans to make this year’s festival both innovative and memorable,” the news release quoted Lawrence. “We look forward to catching up with old friends, making new ones, all the while enjoying an awesome line-up, and an ice-cold Red Stripe beer.” Carlo Redwood, group marketing manager at Red Stripe, echoed the sentiments, saying that another first-class event was what he expected. He also disclosed that Red Stripe would be bringing new and innovative things to the festival, including a specially made long-neck bottle of Red Stripe for what he termed the Red Summer. Zachary Harding of WISYNCO said that he was pleased to have renewed his sponsorship of Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest for the fourth year in a row. He disclosed that Ocean Spray would be WISYNCO’s lead brand for the annual summer music festival this year as the official non-alcoholic beverage. “Last year was an excellent one for Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest, probably one of the best for the decade,” said Harding. “It was very well organised and the production was excellent.”
He also said that WISYNCO expected nothing less this year. Meanwhile, sponsorship and promotions manager at Digicel, Maurice Bryan, said that Digicel signed a three-year contract with Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest because it was, by far, the most successful event on the entertainment calendar in Jamaica, the release said.

“Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest is the largest reggae festival in Jamaica,” said Bryan. “It helps Digicel to connect and interact with its customers and gives us an opportunity to add our own flair and international appeal to the event.”

Air Jamaica has also signed on again as the official airline of the festival.

Tracey Ann Menzies, the national carrier’s marketing manager, said that the airline was happy to be aligned with a high quality entertainment product like Sumfest and hoped that the partnership would help to leverage the Air Jamaica brand and reaffirm its role as a truly Jamaican product.

“Through this partnership, Air Jamaica will be able to fuse the melting pot of cultures through air traffic from our various gateways,” said Menzies. “Air Jamaica will significantly contribute to the overall entertainment industry and confirm that we have stood the test of time, as reggae music has done throughout the years.”

According to Summerfest Productions, several other companies have signalled interest in signing on with the event and are currently in negotiations. The Summerfest Productions directors said they remained committed to producing a world-class event that will attract scores of reggae fans from all across the world and showcase the island’s indigenous music and culture.
